NovAtel Counterfeit Parts Policy

Hexagon | NovAtel recognizes the growing impact of counterfeit components entering the supply chain and their potential impact on product reliability and quality. As a result, NovAtel has established processes and procedures to ensure that only genuine manufactured components are sourced directly from manufacturer or through authorized distributors.

To prevent the procurement of counterfeit components, we actively take the following measures:

  • NovAtel will only source components from approved Brokers that comply with the following criteria:
    • Minimum of 5 years in existence with a Quality Management System e.g., ISO 9001, IATF 16949
    • AS6081 Certified (Independent Distributors/Brokers)
  • Visual inspection of parts will be performed based on IDEA-STD-1010-B standards which includes:
    • Examination for evidence of prior use
    • Verification of correct Markings and Date Code
    • Secondary coating
  • Functional Assessment will be performed with a multi-party review.
    • Part testing
    • Solderability test
  • NovAtel will review and approve the Broker Part Approval process before it flows down to subcontractors.
  • For traceability, an internal Temporary Deviation Notice (TDN) will be issued for each brokered part.
  • The following steps will be taken when counterfeit parts are suspected:
    • Contain the suspect component and affected products/assemblies
    • Stop shipments and recall shipments in progress if needed
    • Internal corrective action procedure will be followed
  • NovAtel will retain counterfeit or suspect counterfeit items in our possession at the time of discovery until disposition is agreed.

NovAtel understands that counterfeit parts pose a serious threat to the electronic industry. NovAtel is committed to preventing the introduction of counterfeit parts into our supply chain by continuously monitoring the ongoing performance of all our suppliers.
